Spring Trends

If you live on the east coast like me we can all agree this winter was BRUTAL! I am so over this cold weather and ready for the warm sunny days, so in order to kick in the new season in style here are some upcoming trends.(luckily they embrace comfort & style)

T-Shirt Dress

This trend has been around for a little while now, but it is here to stay this comfy & cute outfit is so easy & versatile. This piece's effortlessness also adds an edgy vibe. Pair these with some cute thigh high socks, a bold lip, half-up bun style, cool rings, and chunky boots.

Colors

From the spontaneous yellow, to cool blue, to the staples, black & white, this spring season has it all. If I am being perfectly honest I do not own a single piece of yellow clothing or jewelry, but seeing this color more and more I am sure it will soon make an appearance in my closet. Mustard yellow was great for fall & winter, but in the spring a fun pop of the bright canary yellow color will add a little quirkiness & maybe even a smile. My only tip for you is less is more when using this color. Try it in either  a nice spring dress or as an accent. On the opposite end of the spectrum black & white. Black & white has been done throughout winter & seems to be carrying its way to spring, but one that is more bright and clean is head-to-toe white. If yellow is too peppy & black & white is too stark go for a nice blue & white another big staple this spring.

Gingham

While plaid was all the rage in fall gingham is taking its place for spring. Gingham can be worn in an arrange of ways from girly to edgy. For a girlier look try to wear this fun print on skirts or dresses. For an edgier look try gingham printed pants. If you are somewhere in between wear gingham printed shirt or jacket.

There are tons of other spring trends out there, but these were just a few. I hope you enjoyed and try to rock some of these styles!

XOXO,
KD

What To Do With Your Old Magazines?

No matter what I do I can not bring myself to throw out my fashion magazines. Over the February Break I cleaned out my room by donating, throwing out, and organizing everything, I was surprised at how much I could let go , but the one thing left is a giant stack of Vogue, Instyle, & Teen Vogue, which I can not seem to part with. If you face the same dilemmas I do I have some great DIYs on how to recycle your old magazines and convince yourself they are worth keeping.

chapeaux

When scrolling through online shopping sites i come across words such as beret, bucket, cowboy, bowler, fedora, beanie, and no these are not some typos they are all different types of hats. I feel as though this accessory has been somewhat neglected, how many of you know what a cloche or Bretton hat looks like? Our hat problems will soon come to a close, because i will show you some different types of hats you can wear everyday, also showing you example outfits and style tips for each, but make sure to mix and match to achieve your own individual look.

TVs Influence on Fashion

Friends, How I Met your Mother, , Full House, Seinfeld, I can go on and on. The reason I mention all of these titles is because chances are these shows have made their way back into your vocabulary and free time. I too am guilty of watching constant reruns, but never realized their affect in recent fashion. These 'classic' sitcoms may have influenced your clothing choices in two possible ways, one that is much more obvious than the other.
Here is the obvious way first, graphic tees.  There are tons of graphic tees that either have the logo or references of the tv show that only fellow viewers will understand. Since graphic tees are a common clothing item they are a super easy and versatile piece.
If you want a cute & girly look you can pair your graphic tee tucked into a skater skirt (make sure not to pick a pattern that clashes), knee-high socks, chunky sandals, dainty jewelry, a curly ponytail, and a bold pink lip. (Of course the items you pair your tee with can vary based on the style and season).
On the opposite end of the spectrum, an edgier look, tie the bottom half of your tee into a little knot on the side to give an effortless look, pair it with dark wash/black knee ripped jeans, funky cat eye or round lens sunglasses, chunky boots, half up half bun do, keep your makeup neutral to lighten up the look.

Lovely Style

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and deciding what to wear may not be that easy. But if you are like me and it is any other day for you here is a fun way you can experiment with new 'lovely' styles. I decided to pick a love & breakup song and use that as my inspiration for Valentine's Day outfits.

'Need You Now'
Rather than an angry breakup song this one takes more of an emotional route. Because of this sad take on a breakup song there is a much more light and airy feel so when I listened to this song I immediately thought of a fun ballerina style dress. But since this is an emotional song we need a balance in order to keep the purpose.  In order to do this pair it with dark lips, nude eyeshadow, hard metal accessories & messy hair.

The Results Are In

The Whats your style pole on my blog is officially over, and the number one style is (drumroll please), Casual. I actually wasn't surprised when seeing this, but the more I thought about it the more I wondered how fashion went from not leaving the house without a corset constricting your ribs, to going outside in the clothes you slept in. Well I did my research and found out how exactly fashion has turned, so i decided to share  it with you.

Fashion and trends are not something that changes on its own it reflects the interests of people, icons or maybe a change from in normal society.

What a Girl Wants

My birthday is 6 days away and my relatives are all asking me what I want. I've been pretending like I haven't seen their messages, but I know I will have to face it sometime. When I was little asking me what I wanted was never a problem, but now I don't know what to say. {Tip: Don't say nothing, because my friend did that one year and and her family literally got her nothing for her birthday :(} Instead of avoiding it any longer, I created my wishlist (for fashion) and decided to share it with all of you if you struggle with the same indecisiveness I do.

1. A Nice Watch

Nice watches are a great and sensible fashion statement. They have become more and more popular over these past years and are great for some extra arm candy or just simply for practicality.
