Change.

Where have I been? Would you believe me if I told you I was in the middle of a a forest surrounded by mountains in Colorado. Well whether you do or do not, that is exactly where I have been for the past 8 days, completely cut off and I loved it!

I feel like I try my whole life to veer off the path of a cliché. I always strive to be different always try to push myself to be unique. But something that I thought was interesting and a little funny is what my brother said to me, "Everyone tries to be different in the same exact way," and I 100% agree.

So what is the point of trying to be different when you can just live your life as yourself. Now I know that doesn't make much sense so let me give you a for instance. I wrote in one of my posts once,

" When I tie a flannel around my waist I die a little inside because I know that so many people have brought their hands through the same motions with the same output--unoriginal. "

I wanted to different. I wanted to be a new inspiration. I wanted to be. I wanted to be. I wanted to be. Now I just want to be me and live a life I enjoy.

There goes another cliché, but I don't care because I can't think of a more fitting way to put it. So what if I like the look of flannels around my waist. So what if I try to be tumblr. Or look up to people on youtube. What is the point of purposefully trying to  avoid something you enjoy in order to do something you don't all in the hopes of being different.

I think what I realized is that of course there are going to be clichés in life, but its ok because the feeling each and every person gets from it is different. There is know point in purposefully trying to find a new route JUST to stand out because each individual is INDIVIDUAL. Individual in personality, looks, taste, smile, eyes, nose, mouth, toes, fingers, mood, desires...to name an obvious few.

The list can go on and on, but while I was on my trip I encountered my own little cliché. I sat in the brush along the forest floor tiny blades of grass poking at my legs, yet unaffected. With the pine trees cascading over me leaving a shadow above and glints of light from the soothing sun showering around me. All the while the melodies of birds hit the high notes and the buzz of insects acted as the bass. With the sweet rush of water in the middle, topped off with the smell of pine needles that automatically transports me back to the most wonderful time of the year. I was able to just relax , think and set my priorities straight, plus of course catch my breath suffering from the high altitude.

While I was there I had time to think of a lot of things one of them being my blog, since it is such a big part of my life. But the last couple of weeks I felt like I have been letting you down with posts that weren't exactly up to par.

I can list some of my favorite posts I have done, How the Voices of Fashion Changed, Models Back in the Spotlight,  and The Melting Pot of Fashion. I can tell you exactly why they were my favorite, they were MY own opinions, uninfluenced, something new and refreshing to bring to the table, something different, by just being me. They were also pieces of work that I spent a lot of time on and thought about.

I want to continue bringing posts like those, ones that I am proud of, with the summer I was so focused on the quantity of posts and unfortunately neglected the quality portion of it most days.

Blogging is something I love, way more than I ever thought I would. I have always loved writing and I want to prove it more often. I will be posting once a week from now on to really craft posts that are different because they are 100% me.

Thank you so much for all your support and for 200 followers the least I can do is repay you with my best efforts 24/7. So get excited for some amazing posts (hopefully)!!

XOXO,
KD

P.S. These are some of the photos from my trip to Colorado (Estes Park and Rocky Mountains)

  1. Beautiful post. Stunningly well written too. I've always wanted to visit Colorado, when I was on a plane to Boston I got talking to an American who said it was his favourite place to visit. I can see why the forestry and wildlife looks breath taking.
